Dear Members and Friends,

Below is a note from Karen Seddon, CEAI's Technology Coach:

I have been given a unique opportunity to demonstrate the power of technology integration to a group of teachers and youth leaders in Jamaica over the Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-26,2008. I will be travelling as a part of the New Beginnings Christian Fellowship’s (NBCF) annual mission to Jamaica. NBCF partners with the Worldwide Church of God congregation in Christian Pen (a community just outside Kingston) in equipping children, adolescents and young adults in the community to “learn to fish” for themselves. Previous outreaches have included:

• teaching young men to lay tiles
• providing teacher-training skills to local teachers and youth workers
• shipping a large lawn mower to generate income possibilities in the city
• providing training in landscaping

This year’s focus will be encouraging, equipping and empowering the teachers and youth workers to learn 21st century tools that will help their students move from consumers to producers. I prayerfully and humbly submit to you a request that is on my heart. Can you imagine how amazing it would be if I could bring a creative design cart with me that could be theirs to utilize once I show them the FREE and amazing online opportunities there are for the digital students of today? I am asking for your support as I represent CEAI as the technology coach, I would love to establish an ongoing relationship with this community-development effort which is seeking to invest in their independence through emerging technologies available today. I propose to not only show the teachers and youth workers how to utilize and create digital images, digital audio and digital video for their lessons, but I would like to supply them with a creative design cart or carts (see details on the right). I know that God provides all things and am asking your support because there is little or no possibility that these students will have access to creative educational opportunities that this type of technology opens to them without our help.

If you are touched by this opportunity to partner with us financially for the Creative Design Carts and other expenses or will commit to prayer for the mission, it would be a great blessing.
