2008 Annual Conference
Believe it or not, public school students can learn about Jesus - during the school day. It’s called “released time” Christian education and it’s legal in Ohio and permitted by the U.S. Constitution. WeCARE for Students is a new ministry dedicated to empowering communities to offer these programs. Two facts tell the story of why released time is needed now, more than ever:
Nationally, 50% of public school students do not go to church.
If people don’t come to know the Lord by the age of 18, there’s only a 1 in 6 chance they ever will.
If you want to learn more about providing Christian programming for public school students, come to “Because We CARE!” - a conference to be held Saturday, April 19th, 2008 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Two speakers from national organizations will be featured: School Ministries’ Executive Director Ken Breivik and Christian Educators’ Association, International’s Executive Director Finn Laursen; breakout sessions will address issues of getting a program started, curriculum, teaching best practices, and blessings of communities working together as the body of Christ., among other topics.
Anyone with a heart for reaching public school students for Christ is invited: Christians of all denominations interested in getting a program started, those who host and teach released time or before or after-school Bible classes, and those who want to pray and partner with us to fulfill this vital mission.
