Guidelines for Implementing the Bible as a Reading Resource for the Accelerated Reading Program Your School.

Christian educators have more impact than they will ever know here on earth. They are walking Bibles. Thank you for giving them the news that the Bible is popular and is a legal choice for students on the AR.

Thank you for taking time to inquire more about the Bible ARP. The following information will guide you in implementing the Bible into your ARP program:

Read the book of the Bible that you signed up for out of the NIV New Adventure Bible the students will be reading.

You will need to write out 10 comprehension questions over your book if it has more than 6 chapters in it.
(If it contains less than 6 chapters, please write only five comprehension questions over the book.)

You may find it easier to write out questions as you read instead of waiting until you finish the whole book.

Each question must have four multiple choice answers. (a,b,c, or d)

Always give the correct answer immediately following the question on letter a. (When programmed, the computer will automatically mix the answers up.)

SAMPLE QUESTIONS:

Example of questions and choices:

At this time we are not giving out test questions. We are checking all legal issues first. Our goal is to see all students have this opportunity of choice in their libraries that purchase the ARP.

If you would like to encourage the ARP to include the Bible in their national program, you can go to their “ Recommend New Titles” page on the Web at www.advlearn.com/acceleratedreader/quizsuggestions.htm

I would love to work with ARP to supply test to other schools across the nation, but your school does not have to wait for that to happen. You can add the Bible to your ARP today!

The following examples show the type of comprehension questions that we have written to include the Bible on our AR tests.

1. What did the wise men follow to find Jesus?

a. a star
b. a Biblical Map
c. an angel
d. a well marked trail

2. Jesus told Peter he would disown him three times before what?

a. before a rooster crowed
b. before the dog barked
c. before the cat meowed
d. before the sun rose

Note: A letter with the above guidelines can be given to each individual who volunteers to write the tests.

Bibles:

We have the NIV New Adventure Bible in our intermediate school and the NIV Teen Study Bible in our middle school. (High school libraries have the NIV Teen Study Bible available.) We have the New Testament books on our ARP tests and have selected some Old Testament books as well. We rated the reading level for the NIV New Adventure Bible and NIV Teen Study Bible at 8.0.

If you have any questions that I could help you with, please e-mail right back! You do not have to place all books of the Bible on at once. You can add them one at a time. I suggest you start with books from the New Testament, and you do not have to add them in order.

God promises that His Word will not return void. That is evident by the response that we have seen in our Kidz-4-Christ and Teens-4-Christ. We have an enrollment of about 400 students in our intermediate grades (3-5), and we have over 250 students attend our Kidz-4-Christ before school one day a week. I do have a video available, and we are working on pamphlets, instructional guidelines, and a web page to help other students create drama teams, flag teams, cheerleaders, God Squads, Mighty Warriors and other characters to give students the opportunity to stand up and tell others about their Jesus in exciting and fun ways. Our web page is listed under kidz4christ.com. Some of our links are still under construction.

God uses the faith of a child as a goal for adults to follow. Give children the chance to fellowship together as warriors for Christ, and you’ll be amazed with the impact they will bring for God’s Glory in their schools, communities, homes, and their nation.

May God Bless you as you give your students that opportunity!

Sincerely,

Teresa Minor
