Armenia
is a former Soviet Republic that re-emerged as a nation in
the early 1990's. After the fall of communism Armenia experienced
great economic devastation. This in turn has effected school
and young people. School buildings are crumbling, windows
are broken, classrooms lack heat in the winter, and basic
school supplies like paper and pencils are either limited
or non-existent.
Students
in the United States can reach out to students in Armenia.
Even though Armenia is an economically struglling country,
it is rich in history and tradition. Students in the U.S.
can benefit by learning about the culture and experience of
students in another part of the world.
