Although the NEA stands for National Education Association, the organization is a labor union, the same as Teamsters, Auto Workers, etc.  The state affiliates (KEA, TEA, OEA, etc) are also labor unions.  These organizations file government reports required of unions and are recognized by the IRS as a labor union.
