The NEA has recommended reading for members posted on its web site. Several books by Saul Alinsky are on the list. The methods of Saul Alinsky were important to the rise of the NEA as a powerful labor union and were used in the training of NEA leaders. As stated on the site: “NEA recommends the following Saul Alinsky books to those members of our Association who are involved in grassroots organizing, especially Association Representatives (ARs) — also known as building reps or shop stewards — and leaders at local affiliates. Saul Alinsky is widely recognized as the father of, and pre-imminent expert in, grassroots organizing, which is why we recommend that ARs and local leaders become familiar with his theories & materials.”
As a Christian, do you approve of the tactics recommended for NEA leadership? Would you teach them to your students? Excerpts from the book:
