Quick
Starts for Churches
How your church can minister to public schools.
CHURCHES WHO PRAY, CARE AND SHARE MAKE A DIFFERENCE! PRAY:
- Encourage churches to partner with a public school in
close proximity
to their church and identify school personnel and students for special,
specific prayer. Larger congregations could select more than one school
in their community.
- Pray for special events at school i.e.: See You at the
Pole, Thanksgiving,
Christmas, concerts, plays, National Bible Week, National
Day of Prayer etc.
- Encourage churches to establish a regular
(daily, weekly, monthly)
time to pray for their schools, district administrators
and school boards
during services and prayer meetings.
- Encourage churches
to develop a listing of students, parents and school
personnel who attend your church in order to regularly
lift them up in prayer.
CARE:
- Partner with one or more schools to provide a host of
services for
teachers and students.
- Host an outreach to schools such as a breakfast, lunch
or tea for all
school personnel.
- Assist at least one school or the entire
district by providing classroom
volunteers to help with bulletin boards, read to students,
tutoring, grading
papers, etc.
- Provide or fund appropriate assemblies for
students in order to release
teachers from classrooms for meetings and/or provide
classroom aides.
SHARE:
- Develop Released
Time Bible Education programs that would teach
children scripture and pave the way to present God's Word.
- Invite teachers,
administrators and school personnel to appropriate
church functions where the love of Christ is shared.
- Encourage
churches to provide funding for Bibles and other character
building books for the school library or curricular materials
to teach the
Bible as Literature and character education, etc.
- Offer
facilities for school events such as graduation ceremonies
and/or
provide members who can speak on specific topics at their
local school
that present a Biblical world view etc.
