NEWS

WELCOME TO 2011!

Greetings this wonderful New Year! Our Eternal God knows all about this year and He has good plans for us.

TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

Prayer: Pray that the Lord give to each of us all the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we need to do the job He has given us.

The Gift of Teaching

Scripture: The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged. 2Tim.2:24

Lord, when did I first recognize that I was born to be a teacher? Was it when at family gatherings I would automatically round up all the little ones and organize games for them? Was it when I was babysitting and instead of playing cards, I told the children great stories from Shakespeare? Was it when I realized I was the only one paying attention when we diagramed sentences in English class and felt bad that no one was listening to the teacher but me?

Lord, I think teaching was always in my make-up. My baby’s walls weren't 'cute'. They were bulletin boards. We had activities instead of games when my children had birthday parties,. Even though I took 12 years off teaching to raise my children, I was always a teacher.

I am a teacher every day of my life. In the library when I find someone confused about how to use the computer to find a book, I stop what I am doing and teach her how to do it. If I'm getting my nails done and hear a teenager confused about her future, I teach her how to do research on possible careers. If I know how to do it, you can be sure that I will find someone to teach it to.

Help me, Lord, to be an excellent teacher every day all day. Help me teach what matters to You. Thank You for trusting me enough to give me the gift of teaching.
