TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

Prayer: Dear Lord, we are looking to You today for the strength to live for You and You alone.

Godly Living

Scripture: Since everything around us is going to melt away, what holy, godly lives you should be living! You should look forward to that day and hurry it along.
Peter 3:11-12NLT

Around the world there is terrorism, fighting, economic chaos, and growing unique anti-Christian persecution by various government sponsored entities and national organizations. In North America, we face the threat of total economic destabilization, if one would believe the media and the political pundits. Morality decreases and long-standing immorality increases as socially accepted behavior. One would think that these are terrible times if one looked on the surface of things.

God's word told us that these times were to come. Why are we surprised? In fact, things will be worse than this. But God's Word also tells us how to handle these difficulties. How? Not with the ways of the world, rather living in the power of God's Holy Spirit, that's how. Everything that people think is desirable, all the wealth, all the fancy toys, all the richness of our society is going to "melt away."
Peter, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, told us to embrace godly living. In this way we will hurry along the fore-ordained end. Godly living will help us to reach others for Christ. Godly living will stop us from condemning and judging others, sharing the unconditional love with them that we receive from Christ. Godly living will increase our very capacity to live according to Christ's standards for we will develop our 'spiritual muscles,' so to speak. Look to the Lord Jesus Christ to find the strength for Godly living today. It will be the greatest decision you can possibly make.
