TODAY'S DEVOTIONAL

Prayer: Dear Father, Thank You for Your plans for me. Thank You for the opportunities of THIS day. I love You Lord. Amen.

The Fantasy

Scripture: My chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain. Isaiah 65: 22c, 23a.

There they were: future bankers, moms and dads, plumbers, electricians, teachers, preachers, computer programmers, painters, athletes, spread out across the gymnasium dancing to the music of “Clair de Lune” by Debussy. They were entranced by the music and were doing their best to follow the assignment, expressing how the music made them feel. They each used scarves to make the flowing movements they needed, and they were happily making a beautiful sight together.

They were only 9 and 10 years old, but I knew that this experience would stay with them a long time. When they hear that music again, they will remember how it made them feel as children, and they will appreciate the music as other people cannot.

Those were my visions as I taught this very enjoyable assignment in my elementary school.

What are you preparing your students for? Can you fantasize how the things you teach will impact the next generation? Are you preparing people for the future, or merely teaching children your subject area material? Do a little dreaming. You may have a future president of the USA in your class!
