COURAGE IN THE RECRUITING OFFICE

Prayer: Lord, open the eyes of our hearts so we can see the spiritual battle going on in our professional lives. Help us communicate with you and one another in order to win this battle.

Scripture …the real battles and dangers we face are not against flesh and blood. The enemies we see are real enough, but they are animated by spiritual forces of darkness that stay strategically hidden from view. These powers often reveal themselves in institutional evils….” (Ephesians 6) MSG

Remember that soldiers on active duty don’t get wrapped up in civilian matters because they want to satisfy those who recruited them. (II Timothy 2:4) MSG

Today, do you see Jesus seated behind a desk at a military recruiting office in a retail strip center somewhere in suburban America? He looks strangely out of place there. You are walking through the glass entry doors on which you see the logos of all the branches of the military represented – Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. You see a different logo among them. It is three bold red letters ABC with a dove ascending from the letters. Jesus is beckoning you to come and sit in the chair facing the desk where He is seated. He is casually dressed like a school teacher. You see the scars on his brow. He stands up and offers to shake your hand and you see the large jagged scar on his right wrist. Light is emanating from his entire being. These scars and the light are his uniform. You shake his hand and warmth, like a current of electricity, flows up from your hand and courses through your entire body putting you at ease and at rest. Never, in all your life, have you felt so peaceful, relaxed, and calm.

Jesus looks into your eyes and begins speaking to you through His silence, “There is a battle going on, a spiritual one you cannot see in your profession. It destroys many and is growing in intensity. The battles are taking place in the hearts and homes of the students, staff members, and administrators you serve. There are many who are wounded and left abandoned on the battle fields there. These wounded and abandoned then bring the fight – their anger, unforgiveness, idolatry, sloth, rebellion, insecurity, fear, murmuring, and lack of faith into the classrooms, offices, and boardrooms in the school system where you serve. I AM I AM and I am the commanding general in this battle against darkness. I am the solution to these problems. You need to personally communicate with me and other

Christian teachers in order to win this battle. If you don’t, you will be swept away in the growing darkness. I am your general, commanding officer, superintendent, principal, and department chairperson. The heavenly host, the saints that have gone before, and other educators of faith are your fellow soldiers. Do you understand me?”

What is your response?

Understand the need to equip yourself for spiritual battle in your professional life by staying in regular communication with God and other believers where you work.
