STRAIGHT ON UNTIL MORNING

Prayer: Oh Lord! We want to walk the way You have planned out for us. Please keep us faithful. Thank You. Amen

Scripture: Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; then stick to the path and stay safe. Don’t get sidetracked Proverbs 4:25-27 NLT

Walking with the Lord Jesus Christ is not a really complicated thing. It’s simple, actually. Just look where God has planted your feet for the day and walk that way! Of course it gets complicated when we over-think things and insert our own personal preferences after we have it clear what God has for us. We complicate things when we exercise that human tradition of passive aggressive behavior by just not getting around to initiating what we know we should do. We fool ourselves if we think that it is just a minor thing. God calls it ‘sin.’ Sin that goes unconfessed and unrepented of can become a problem in the life of a believer.

What does God’s word make plain for you this day? How are you to behave toward others you meet this day? What priorities should be moved to the top of your list this day? It’s simple really.

Try these additional suggestions from Chapter Three of Proverbs.

Prov. 3.5-19 (NLT)

  • Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths.
  • Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil. Then you will gain renewed health and vitality.
  • Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land produces. Then he will fill your barns with grain, and your vats will overflow with the finest wine.

“. . . lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace” (Eph. 4:1-3)
