GOD’S ACTIONS OR MY OWN?

Prayer: Today I want to follow after You.

Scripture: . . . put into action God’s saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. Phil 2:12b-13 NLT

We are pretty busy about putting our own work into action every day in our lives, aren’t we? We strive and wrestle with situations and circumstances that arise, much like the ancient Patriarch, Jacob, wrestled with the Angel of God and hung on until day break. Some might say we wrestle against God. He wants to care for us and intervene in our lives if we will only release and allow His will. Even after we SAY that we want God’s will, we wrestle the control away from Him, to keep our own will in ascendency.

Paul goes on in this passage to explain what it means to put God’s action into our life rather than our own. What if these ideas were true in your life today, what would you feel like then?

Phil. 2.14 (NLT) In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing, so that no one can speak a word of blame against you. You are to live clean, innocent lives as children of God in a dark world full of crooked and perverse people. Let your lives shine brightly before them.

You can see that God’s presence within our nature can make much difference in our outward actions each day. I pray this day will be one in which these ideas are true for you.
