KEPT SAFE IN GOD’S PEACE
June 4, 2019
Prayer: Please show us what changes we need to make to let You and Your peace into this wonderful day You have made.
Scripture: I will lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone, O LORD, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:8 NLT
I have been thinking about being strengthened by the Lord, especially in the face of difficulties. And now today I was rejoicing about how peace can make life so great and its absence can make life so miserable.
We have such a high stress world, with high stress pressures and high stress ambitions swirling around us. We are scrambling to pay bills, earn money for those ‘special’ luxury extras, and wonder why we don’t have time to enjoy the things we already have– like our family.
God wants to rearrange that perspective. He wants to offer us a life filled with His peace. His peace won’t leave us stressed out. His peace won’t leave us worrying. His peace won’t tax our energy. His peace, also, will not bore us or take away meaning from life. Just the opposite. His peace makes life more meaningful than anything else we might consider. You’ve heard it said ‘prayer changes things.’? When we pray, in faith, trusting in the Lord, and prepared to receive His will, then God’s peace starts flowing into the core of our lives. As long as we seek and exercise the faith God is willing to give us, His peace will calm us and bring limitless joy. Make today a day of rejoicing in God’s peace.
