IT COMES WITH MATURITY
November 12, 2019

Prayer: Gracious Heavenly Father please help me to stay in Your will. Help me to always be obedient to Your voice. Renew my mind to the things of Your kingdom.

Scripture: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV

I am going to be honest and admit that when I am tired I am guilty of cutting some corners or just not doing what I am supposed to do. There have been times when I have had an extensive list of things to do at work and a directive from the Superintendent’s desk trickles down to the teachers. Just when I thought I could not possibly have anything else on my plate, one more item is added. In addition to this, it is due the very next day!

So, what should you do? Should you pretend you didn’t get the memo or email? Should you go and complain to the teacher across the hallway? Should you send a lengthy email expressing your disapproval of how things are done to your principal and superintendent? It is sad and embarrassing to say that I am guilty of doing all of the above.

As you mature in Christ, your mindset will change. Maturity in Christ brings about a different way to respond when an issue arises. We are in control of how we respond and what we say. We should respect authority as well, which is honored by God. Carnality begins to peel away from our mind as we grow. Our minds become renewed. We can renew our minds with the Word of God. We should decree and declare, on a daily basis, that we have a mind like Christ.

Before you blow a gasket about the never-ending to-do list, breathe, and ask God to increase your hunger for His Word. The Word of God is a weapon to fight off negative thoughts. Your mind will be renewed when you meditate on His Word. I thank God for His unchanging, powerful, promising Word.
