MID-YEAR CRISIS
January 15, 2020

Prayer:  Cause us to remember Who gives us strength for the task ahead.

Scripture: In all their suffering he also suffered, and he personally rescued them.  In his love and mercy He redeemed them.  He lifted them up and carried them through all the years. Isaiah 63:9 NLT

This morning I am exhausted. My chorus is unmotivated just when I need them to be the most productive. Teachers on whom I depend are letting down and I have to carry more of the responsibility right now. My principal has great aspirations for our school, but expects me to carry out ideas which mean a lot of extra work. I have no voice because of a cold I have, and I will have no Saturday this week because I am taking four girls to an all-state chorus all day. My car isn’t even dependable. It keeps overheating, and my husband is on a business trip for the next three weeks.

Extraordinary weakness demands extraordinary strength. Isn’t that why we call Him the Almighty? And what nourishment comes from the Scriptures! In exhausting times like this, the Word was like food to me. Without a daily “feeding” of the manna, I would have died.

Are you feeding on Christ in your weakest times? Does He speak strength to you? Journal your experiences and the words which the Lord gives you, as you seek Him. The exercise will strengthen your soul.  Find a devotional guide that will help you. While others that you know depend on entertainment and vacation trips to get them through, gather your refreshment from the Lord. “He maketh me lie down in green pastures. He restoreth my soul.”  Psalm 24.
