PATHFINDER
January 13, 2020

Prayer: We praise You, O Lord, for being our Leader and Guide.  You have good plans for us and You will show us how to get there.

Scripture: “Show me Your ways, O Lord, teach me Your paths; guide me in Your truth, and teach me, for You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.” Psalms 25:4-5 NIV

Some of you are educators in Senior High schools where students are searching for the path that they will take after graduation. There are hard decisions such as career fields, whether they should join the military or even a rock band. College acceptance and rejection letters arrive in the mail. Longtime boyfriend/girlfriend relationships either break off or begin moving toward marriage. All of this, and final exams, too: it is enough to make anyone a little crazy.

Some of you are working with Middle School students whose hormones are raging and whose attitudes may be just as intense. This is the time when these students are trying to figure out where they fit in.  They are no longer a “child,” but not a young adult either.

Then, of course, some of you are working with Elementary students who are just starting out, many of whom are still finding their way to the lunchroom and restroom.

I am sure that these brief synopses bring back memories not only of past and present students, but also of your own time in school.

Now, as adults, we are still searching, asking God to guide us to and down the path that He wills. So many times we may have said, “That came out of the blue,” or “I never expected that.” I usually feel that God has taken me around a corner at that moment and, though I did not see it coming, He had it planned for me all along.

Are you at a fork in the road? Are you standing at an intersection in your life looking for “a sign?” Ask and allow God to be your pathfinder.
