LOVED

Prayer: I stand in Your presence, Dear Father, grateful for Your love.  Thank You, Jesus, for showing me how much.  I pray my students and co-workers will feel Your love through me. Amen.

Scripture: May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 NIV

The Scriptures describe God’s love in many ways. His love endures forever; it is abounding, everlasting, unfailing, great, and wonderful. We could spend all day listing the attributes of God’s love. 1 John 4 tells us twice that God is love. Probably the best part of God’s love is that it is shown. God does not just say, “I love you.” He shows us.
How has God delighted you? What message has He been sending to you? Has it sounded like, “I love you?” Maybe it has been, “I am here with you, and you are never alone.” Perhaps you’ve heard, “We will get through this together.” I pray that your senses have been opened to the many pleasant surprises He sends our way each day. We need to feel loved. We need to hear it and see it.

If there is someone in your life to whom you need to say, “I love you,” please tell them this week. Many times, we expect them to know that we do. Remember, actions speak louder than words. If you tell someone you love him or her but your actions have not backed up your statement lately, it is time to show them how much they mean to you. One Valentine’s Day, I scattered chocolate kisses along the floor of our house from the door through the house along the usual path my husband always walked when he came home from work. The note at the end of the kisses read, “I kiss the ground you walk on.” Corny? Maybe, but he bragged about it to all his friends.

God loves you so much that He paved your path to heaven with the precious blood of Christ. He sent His one and only beloved Son to be the only acceptable sacrifice for your sins. Will you tell all your friends how God has shown His wonderful, unfailing, abounding love to you? Consider the ways God has shown His love in the recent past.
