WHAT ARE YOU WEARING?
March 10, 2020

Prayer: My gracious, loving Lord, thank You for being who You are. Thank You for protection. Thank You for equipping me with everything that I need. In Jesus’s name, amen.

Scripture: Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 NKJV

So you’re going over your mental checklist before sprinting out the door for work. It may go something like this:
•           keys-check
•           lunch bag-check
•           coffee-check
•           bag/purse-check
•           graded papers-check
Something is missing. Are you completely dressed? Did you remember to put on the whole armor of God? There is a reason that God provides us with this armor. We are in a spiritual battle, which is mentioned in Ephesians 6:12. His armor offers protection, as well as a weapon to fight with. That weapon is the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God described in Ephesians 6:17. Swords are made to fight, to sever, and to kill. After David used his sling shot to defeat Goliath, he used Goliath’s own sword to remove his head (1 Samuel 17:51). Every part of the armor is vital, but the sword of the Spirit is very important. Without our sword, we can only block what the enemy is throwing at us as described in Ephesians 6:16. God has given us His Word, sword of the Spirit, to cut down our spiritual attackers mentioned in Ephesians 6:12.

Jesus set an example when He used His sword of the Spirit after His 40 day fast ended. Satan tried to entice Jesus, but each time Jesus boldly and firmly stated “It is written”. Jesus defeated the enemy with the Word of God. The devil cannot stand against the Word. John 1:1 NKJV explains why. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” This scripture clearly lays it out plainly! God is the sword of the Spirit! Therefore Jesus was cutting the devil down with the Father Almighty! In conclusion, be sure you’re fully dressed every day. Be blessed.
