TELL-TALE SIGNS
April 8, 2020

Prayer: Lord, please help me to allow the fruit of the Spirit to shine through me today. May I have a willingness to love even those who are unlovable.  Amen.

Scripture: Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day He visits us. 1 Peter 2:12 NIV

I saw her in the supermarket aisle. She was smartly dressed with comfortable shoes, looking intelligent, and collecting her groceries quickly. I wondered if she might be a teacher, too. It wasn’t until I pulled my cart up behind her in the check-out line that I knew. There on her back side was the line of chalk. I knew it! No one but a teacher would have that mark.

Christians should have tell-tale marks too. Do you have identifying marks that reveal a family likeness to Christ? Do people recognize Christ by the purity of your speech? By your respectful treatment of students, by your submission to authority, by your refraining from gossip? When you sit down to lunch, do you bow and thank God for it? Are you compassionate and caring? Are you living a holy life?

By law we may be prohibited from preaching Christ, but there is no law anywhere, even in the public school, against love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control!
