GOOD WORKS
April 6, 2020

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You so much for your admonition to be good to others. You said that they would know us by our love. Let us love our students, colleagues, and school community. Amen.

Scripture: And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. Titus 3:14 (ESV)

Are you hearing some of the stories of goodness during this unprecedented time of struggle? On the surface it would seem impossible that good things can be happening during a pandemic. But God……Isn’t it just like Him to turn ashes to beauty and evil to good? Teachers are using online programs with video conferencing to hold class meetings with their young students to give them a sense of normalcy. Parents are posting messages about how we should be paying teachers more and wondering how they can possibly do this all day with so many children. Neighbors are checking on neighbors to see if they are okay. Some are even taking toilet paper to neighbors! Students are giving up Spring Break to serve, and families are putting down devices to play board games and play together outside. But God….

As Christian educators, we are called to be the salt and light to our school communities. We serve to give God the glory. What can we do? Let’s be encouragers. Let us text/call our colleagues and administrators to let them know how much we appreciate them. Why not write a note to some of our students and mail it? I know that’s huge with 140+ students, but we have time. While we wait for some sense of normalcy, let’s be about our Father’s business: loving others.
