YOU WILL FIND IT AFTER MANY DAYS

Prayer: Lord help us to be the best teacher we can possibly be and with your help and guidance loving and encouraging our students on to success.
Scripture: Cast your bread upon the waters: for you will find it after many days.
Eccl. 11:1 NKJV
Casting bread upon the waters is analogous to teaching. Ponder the word picture. What do you see? Could the bread be what we teach? Could the waters be our students? Could what is found after many days be the “ah hah” experience when the students begin to understand?
This word picture also brings to mind patience. We don’t know when we will see success. We hope that we have prepared and presented information that is clear, acceptable, and challenges students to think. We believe that all students can learn, but we understand that they don’t all learn at the same time, in the same way.
So, we pray during preparation, “Lord, help me prepare what is exceedingly acceptable.” We pray during presentation, “Lord, let me cast this information in ways that is understandable and meets my students learning needs.” We pray during group and individual practice, “Lord, help my students find this bread that has been so carefully prepared and served.” We pray during assessment, “Lord, help us all rejoice in success.”
We have done a lot of casting this school year.
