LOOKING FORWARD

Prayer: Lord, help me to look ahead to your will and instruction in my life rather than focusing on my past pain and failures. In Jesus’s forgiving Name. Amen.
Scripture: “. . .lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace” (Eph. 4:1-3)
I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead (Philippians 3:13).
Paul wrote these to the church but God inspired him to say it. Sometimes I find myself causing myself pain because I reflect on the past failures, past struggles, the lack of past accomplishments, and the non-achievements that still bug me. But as a Christ follower I need not be burdened with my past. All the evil has been forgiven by God. That which I dwell upon I need to forgive myself of as well. You have the same choice to forgive yourself of your past and leave it in the past. God is with His people so we can be looking forward and anticipating the amazing things He will call us to do. We can be listening to God’s Holy Spirit residing within us, as He instructs us what to do. Then we can engage the task and simultaneously receive supernatural power from God to accomplish what He wills. And it will be to God’s credit, for His glory, and not for our own. The pressure is off! It is not about me — but about the Lord. I hope this makes you as happy as it makes me today!
