COMPLETELY HIS
February 05, 2021

Prayer: Lord, my prayer for all of us is that we would be completely yours. Amen.

Scripture: For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. 2 Chronicles 16:9a NAS

As a child I often worried and was even fearful of the God who was “watching me.” It was not until I understood His amazing love for me that I realized that He was watching me like a new Mom watches her baby sleep, like a proud Dad watches from the bleachers. Not only is He watching me, He is watching out for me. Following Him is not a leap into some dark unknown, it is a step into the Light that He has already prepared.

Take a closer look at this verse and see the two coinciding actions that are taking place. As His child, His follower, His servant; your heart should be completely His. The word “completely” is the transliterated Hebrew word Shalem meaning full, perfect, keeping covenant relation. Your responsibility is to keep your heart completely His, not partly, not just on certain days of the week, in certain circumstances, when you feel like it. No, a heart that is completely His is a lifetime, every day, moment-by-moment love that lives for Him fully, trusting and obeying with every breath and every step you take.

What does God give you in return for your heart? Strong support. “Support” is the transliterated Hebrew word Chazaq meaning strengthen, make firm, become mighty, to be gripped, encourage, repair, urge, take hold, uphold, overcome. Wow! That is a mouthful and a mind-full. How many of you today could use some strength? How many of you have felt a little weak or feel the ground shaking under your feet? Would you like Him to be your firm foundation? Would it help you today to know that He has you in His grip and will never let you go? Can you just imagine the squeeze as He holds you in His mighty arms? Would some heavenly encouragement go a long way this week? Is there a situation, a relationship, a decision that you would love for Him to assure you that you will be able to overcome as He upholds you when you are feeling down, depressed, deserted, or defeated? How does it make you feel to know that you are strongly supported by God?

In a season of giving and receiving paper and chocolate hearts, what kind of heart are you offering God? If it is dirty, He can clean it. If it is broken, He can mend it. If it is fearful, He can strengthen it, but you cannot just give Him a piece of your heart, not even half will do. You must give Him your whole heart. Where are you holding back? Why are you holding back? He formed your heart, He put the beat in your heart, and He is certainly worthy of the emotional overflow of your heart. Give back to Him the love and life He has given to you.  The best Valentine that you could give would be giving your heart to God, completely.
