PERSECUTION BY THE WORLD LEADS TO BLESSING BY GOD
February 04, 2021

Prayer: Jesus, give us courage to be identified with You in an increasingly hostile world. Amen.

Scripture:God blesses you who are hated and excluded and mocked and cursed because you are identified with me, the Son of Man (Luke 6:22 NLT).

I recently read a book about Christians in China and another about Christians in Muslim nations. In both places, the official policy of the governments involves sanctioning the arrest and even execution of people for nothing more than meeting together to study the Bible and learn about Christ. Here in the USA where we are supposed to have “freedom of religion” Christians are being increasingly restricted from the same public access that others still enjoy. But we should not be surprised at what is happening around the world and the signs of coming anti-Christian persecution here in “freedom-loving” USA. The Word of God long ago described what happens in a world running headlong away from God’s direction into the enemy’s camp. This passage in Luke records Jesus, Himself God, telling potential believers in Christ that times would come when those who identify themselves with Him will become the subject of scorn, ridicule, and even outright hatred and physical persecution. But if we must endure this, why would we want it otherwise? The more others mock and persecute us, the more God blesses us.

Another meaningful and timely devotional Dan – thank you!
Better to be mocked and reviled for God than to remain un-mocked and without God!
