FOCUSING ON WHAT LIES AHEAD
June 09, 2021

Prayer: Dear Lord, I praise You for forgiving me and giving me a new life. Amen.

Scripture: I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead. Philippians 3:13 NLT

When one gets to a certain age, one starts looking back upon the years.

I am at that age.

I could look back with regret and depress myself, or I could look back and thank God for all He has done: for forgiving me for messing up, and for delivering me from my own follies over the decades. I must also consider that I may have spent part of my life hiding from my past or being worried about my present and fearful of my future.

Today’s scripture reminds us that we can forget all that past stuff and focus forward to what God is doing and will do in and through us. Paul wrote saying he was laying aside all the medals and glories of his past fame and fortune, so to speak. But he was also laying aside all the past sin and failures too. 2 Cor. 5:17 assures us “… those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun!”

I pray that this day, for you, is one filled with the joy of new life in Christ and thanking Him for what He has blessed you with in the past and delivered you from, never regretting it or fearing the future. May you “Lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God.

Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other’s faults because of your love. Always keep yourselves united with the Holy Spirit and bind yourselves together with peace.” Ephesians 4:1-3 NLT

Thank you for your encouraging words and the reminders from Scripture.

As you get older, you do start thinking of you pay or the future of what “ifs” and Good is soo good that it doesn’t matter to Him as he knows our future. We need to focus on Him and His Word and accept His forgiveness
