GLADLY DO SOMETHING NEW
September 14, 2021

Prayer: Great and Mighty God! We worship and adore You. Your creativity knows no bounds and we want to be willing to launch out in new ways to reach our students. Here we are, the teachers, looking to the greatest Teacher of all. Thank You for guiding us.  Amen.

Scripture: Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19 NIV

When was the last time you did something totally new? At our school the teachers are being asked to do several new things in several new ways. Why? Not because they did not already have enough to do and the principal noticed how bored they were. It is an effort to be even better than they are. It is the constant pursuit to be a school of educational excellence.

There are many things we already do well; we have many great teachers, but as in all schools, there is always room for improvement. We can always do something new and do some things better. This may not be a popular decision for those who already feel they are doing all they can or all they need to be doing. Pride and passiveness are dangerous enemies of success. It should be human nature to wake up every morning with a desire to be better than the day before. The challenge is to take that desire and fuel it lest it be silenced or crushed before we even make it into the car to drive to work.

God desires to do a new thing in you. He will work in you and through you. You can become better and better every day. He will equip you for what you need to do, what you are required to do and what you are responsible to do. What do you desire to do this year? What new things are you being asked to do in your job this year? What new thing is God prompting you to do?” My prayer for you is that you would gladly do something new.

Kathy, I look forward to reading your devotionals and have been blessed upon many occasions.
God tells us there is nothing new under the sun. My heart goes out to teachers who are being forced to teach children subjects that are sinful. There is so much wrong with the “new” that is being forced in classrooms across America right now it would be refreshing to do something new by going back to the “old”! For example – say the Pledge of Allegiance, teach math as 2+2=4, what has happened to our history? As a retired teacher, and blessed to have been able to retire in ‘19 before the “new” really hit the classrooms, I pray for to God return classrooms to the “old”and that teachers join CEAI and not local teachers unions.
