FRAGRANT AROMA?
May 6, 2022

Prayer: Dear Lord, we want to honor You in all that we do today. We pray You open doors for dialoguing with others about Your truth. Thank You. Amen

Scripture: But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him. 2 Corinthians 2:14 NIV

Whew! We have only a few more weeks to help our students get “educated”; in other words, to master the mandated curriculum before we release the troops for summer vacation. How will we have time to get everything in?… What!? You didn’t study? You didn’t complete your homework?  You forgot your book? You forgot!?

So goes the classroom drama. We teachers are weary, and our students are experiencing spring fever.

As Christ’s ambassadors, we are promised that God will lead us in “triumphal procession.” Yes, even through the remaining weeks of the year, in that triumph, the Holy Spirit resides in us and flows out from us in a sweet fragrance. Our aroma flows out to those around us. However, this may be a good time to evaluate ourselves: is our permeating fragrance sweet, or are we blocking the Holy Spirit’s right-of-way and permitting ourselves to smell badly? Are we allowing our attitudes and responses to exude Jesus, or are we abrasive and impatient? What kind of model and influence are we portraying? Do others see Jesus through us? You may question, “Yes, but how can we possibly deal with all we have to face in the final weeks of school?”
2 Corinthians 3:5b reminds us, “…our competence comes from God.” We can leave the remainder of this school year with God. We can ask for Jesus’s help and presence in our classrooms and schools each day. We can ask Him to help us see our world through His eyes.  We can trust Him and relax, allowing His plan to daily unfold.

Let’s give these last weeks to God and allow His sweet aroma to flow out through us that others will mentally exclaim, “Wow! Did you smell that sweet aroma? That was so refreshing and inviting! Just like a breath of fresh air! I want what they have!”
