NDOP AMERICA’S STRENGTH AND SHIELD
May 5, 2022

Prayer: Dear Lord, Thank You that we can pray in our country. We bless Your name today. Amen

Scripture: …and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NAS

How pleasing this must be to our Heavenly Father, to hear the multitude of prayers. The National Day of Prayer is not about one political party or another. It is not about praying for only those you voted for or agree with. It is not about the policies of earthly power. It is not about what I want or what you want. This day is meant to unite us as Americans to focus on the Creator – our Creator – and to praise His Mighty name.

It is a day to humble ourselves and acknowledge that He is God and we most certainly are not. Like every day, it is a day to seek Him earnestly, to search for His ways, to know His heart and character. It is a day of repentance: a day to confess our sinful ways and turn from them. It is a new day of new beginnings, as God promises forgiveness when we confess and repent from our hearts. It is a day for forgiveness, a day for bygones to be bygones and healing to begin. It will warm your hearts, as it does mine, to know that many prayers are lifted up for all of you, and prayers are said for districts and school boards across the United States.

On this day people will gather at flagpoles and federal buildings, cafés and churches. People will be on their knees in hotel ballrooms and office meeting rooms, on beaches and mountain tops. Will you join us?

I know this is a very hectic time of the school year but I know God will bless this time of prayer. Cry out to God to help you finish this year strong. My prayer for you is that you will unite with us in prayer.
