“Educating the Whole Person”: A Holistic Approach to Character Education, Eden Prairie, MN

As parents, grandparents, educators, and pastors we would all agree that the hearts of children today are vulnerable. There are so many platforms that are vying to shape the next generation. As Christians, we need to be intentional about developing the character of young people so that they can become all that God created them to be. Whether you work with children in a classroom (private or public), at home, or in a church, there are things that you can do to grow character. Join us on Saturday, July 9th from 8:30am-12:00pm to gain a deeper understanding of what goes into character development and practical ways to work with young people as we address eight key principles of character education. There will be a picnic lunch served and a time of fellowship following the workshop.

Keynote Speaker: Professor Jan Hábl is a husband, father, educator, and Comenius scholar. He works at the Hradec Králové University Czechia and Center of Character & Ethics, lecturing in fields of pedagogy, anthropology, ethics and the history of education. Jan is leading an initiative across universities and education organizations across Czechia and Slovakia to bring Character education back to schools (all elementary schools to universities). Jan has a heart for Christian educators and works diligently to equip them to make a difference wherever they are serving. He has authored titles both scholarly and fictional, e.g. Labyrinth Upgrade: An Allegory (not only) for Children (2015), Even If No One is Looking. Fundamental Questions of Ethical Education (Wipf & Stock 2017), On Being Human (Wipf & Stock 2017), “You shouldn’t”: Three Observations on the Necessity of Moral Education (Ped.
