PA– USE TO PONDER THE PASSAGES
February 28, 2018

Prayer: Lord may we always take time to ponder and pray the scriptures

Scripture: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalm 119:105 NIV

Jesus, the Word made flesh, poured Himself onto the pages (or papyrus) of what we call our Bible, long before He poured Himself out on the cross.  I pray that you read your Bible every day.  It is vital that we are steeped in God’s Word, and obedient to God’s Word. We need to be reminded of the importance of His Word in our lives. Scripture tells us time and time again that we are required to hear the word and do it (Ex: Luke 8:21, 11:28)

Proclaim the Word – when you teach His Word, from His Word it helps us to remain the messenger and not their Messiah. Helping someone in a time of need can result in them leaning on you more heavily instead of reaching towards the heavenlys. Teaching from God’s Word keeps our prospective on Him and our opinions to ourselves.

Prepared and built up by the Word – Hebrews 11:3, Acts 20:32
Perfecting -1 John 2:5
Present and abiding in you – 1 John 2:14
Performs God’s work in those who believe -1 Thessalonians 2:13
Works with prayer to sanctify that which God has created 1 Timothy 4:4-5
Profitable when united with faith – Hebrews 4: 2
Profitable in times of persecution – 2 Timothy 3:14-17 You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
Piercing and revealing  – Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
As Colossians 3:16 advises us to, “Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
