Prayer: Lord, help us to be a shining example of God’s love to our students.

Scripture: Matthew 5:44-45 &48 “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous…Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:44-45 &48 NIV

You probably looked at this attribute and thought this must be some kind of joke. We all know that only one perfect man walked this earth and it isn’t you or me. How then can we be perfect? Jesus tells us to love our enemies, and to love the unlovable. Every educator runs across an unlovable student some time in their career. How do you react to that student or to that peer that is just so hard to get along with or worse speaks untruths about you behind your back? Loving the unlovable is no easy task. Pursue perfection, and be a shining example of God’s love to others.
