THANK YOU
April 26, 2018

Prayer: Dear Lord, we are thankful at this wonderful time of year for the salvation Jesus brought to us – salvation from anxiety over financial setbacks, unhappy stress, etc.– He came that we can have joy in Him.  Thank You for coming, dear Jesus.  Amen.

Scripture: They forgot the God Who saved them, Who had done great things in Egypt, miracles in the land of Ham and awesome deeds by the Red Sea. Psalm 106:21-22 NIV

“I’m writing to thank you for what you are doing for my child…The care you put into your music class on early Wednesday mornings has brought so much joy to my child, which in turn has given me happiness, I wanted to thank you.” Mrs. Martin wrote that note to me nearly twenty years ago, but I still keep it as a remembrance.  Most teachers like me, get written thank you notes so seldom that they are special indeed. I remember receiving verbal thanks from parents more often, but to read it in writing certainly made my day.

The society we live in moves at such a hurried pace that fewer and fewer people take the time to be thankful. It becomes so easy for us, as it did for Israel, to forget the blessings from God and from people in our lives. When was the last time you wrote a thank you to a former teacher or pastor or other significant adult in your youth? These people will indeed be blessed by the remembrance, and will know that their life mattered in a special way to you.

Fewer people in our society live a life of thanks to God. We too, as Christians, so often take our blessings for granted. He has given us so much. We forget that without Him, we would not have a breath or a heartbeat. Take the time during this week to enumerate your blessings, and take them before the Lord with thanksgiving. You might even consider writing Him a thank-you note! It would give Him pleasure.
