ABOUNDING
August 29, 2018

Prayer: We thank You and praise You, Almighty God, that Your grace abounds to us everyday.  Please lead us to the one who needs special grace from me today.  Thank You.  Amen.

Scripture: God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all you need, you will abound in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 NIV

At some point in our lives, we all feel ill-equipped for the task or responsibility before us. I know I have felt that way many times. Parents often joke that an instruction manual should be delivered along with the baby. Wouldn’t it be helpful if some Godly manual arrived with each of our students? What would you want included in this document?

I would want to know what God has planned for their lives, so I could help to prepare each of them. With this information, I could make sure that they learned all they needed to know for their particular career. I would want to know what hardships they would face ahead, so I could help them build the character and perseverance they would need to face the challenges. It would be helpful to know about their past: how they had been hurt; things that had been said to them that needed correcting, even misconceptions they had formed about themselves and others. I would want to know their strengths and weaknesses. I would really be interested in their level of relationship with Jesus and their family’s religious beliefs and practices. What can you add to this list?

Unfortunately, our students do not come with such a manual, but most of this information is documented in their words, actions, dreams, behavior, parent interaction, and on their faces. Just looking deeply into the eyes of our students can tell us a lot about them. Most importantly, we are promised in today’s Scripture that God is able to abound His grace in us so that “in all things at all times, having all we need, we will abound in every good work.”

If we look to God, He will equip us and we will flourish and be successful. Through God’s grace and guidance we will be abounding even at the end of this school year. How can each of us carry out the attribute of abounding in our daily environment? (classroom, hallways, meetings, cafeteria, office, etc.)?
