Prayer:  Lord, please help us to remember we really can only do well the things You call us to do.  Please show us Your plan for this day.  Thank You. Amen

Scripture:  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 NAS

Most of you have quoted this verse at some point in your life. Some of you recite this verse coming to work every day or even going home every day. Sometimes we feel like our “all” things are too much. Other times we feel like our “all” thing (singular) is too big. The Greek word for all in this verse is paß – pronounced pas – and as you might expect its definition does mean, “each, every, any, all, the whole, everyone, all things, everything.”

One of the many things about being an Educator is that we kind of get two “New Years.” We get a new year on January 1, but we also seem to get one on the first day of school. We get a chance to start fresh, make new plans, set new goals or resolutions as some might call them. So what things would you like to do this year that will take His strength?

Maybe you want to stop doing something. What has God been calling you to do? What has been on your heart or conscious? It is very important that we set goals and then make them a priority.

I think most of you will agree that summer break went by way too quickly. I had many things I hoped to do but only accomplished the ones I made a priority and invested time and thought into; everything else is still waiting for me to do when I get around to it. Of course “getting around to it” does not happen too often since each day comes with new responsibilities and commitments.

Please realize that there is a huge difference between activity and accomplishment. Our days get filled, if we do not control our schedules it will control us. We have to take time or time will take us. Our days fly by. It will not be long until the end of the school year is here and we find ourselves saying, “Where did this year go?”  My prayer for you is that you would know that you can do all that God calls you to do through His strength.
