SPRING
March 27, 2020

Prayer: Please help us, Oh Lord, to keep holding onto You in these troubling times.  We don’t want to miss out on time spent listening to You and growing in our trust and peace.

Scripture: “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah 59:19 KJV

Spring—the time for budget referendums, testing, retention decisions, final concerts, all-state music festivals, teacher placement for the next school year, staff cuts, pink slips. These are days of spring flooding. Many times we feel that we can barely keep our heads above water. How will we make it through? In times of flooding, it is essential to hang on to something stable, to have insurance, and to have the right perspective about those things that are truly important. How wonderful that the Lord gives us assurance through Isaiah, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.” When we feel that we can no longer hang on, an old hymn bolsters us, “Our Helper, He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing.”*
