WAIT! WHY? WAIT IN GOD’S PEACE
March 31, 2020

Prayer: Dear Lord, We believe that You have a purpose beyond what we can see when we must wait.  Please help our unbelief.  Thank You.  Amen.

Scripture: Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD. Psalm 27:14 NLT

“Wait.”  The Lord, our God, creator of all says “wait” when we ask a thing.  Few of us like to wait.  In western cultures– especially North American we have become accustomed to the myth of having it our way and having it NOW.  Even a nickname for our times is the “Now Generation.”

The epitome of self-serving is the expectation that anything I desire or ask for I should have now.  We promote that philosophy even while we deny it between ourselves and start competing to have it our own way.

In our new nature, however, as God’s Holy Spirit, through Christ in us, continually remakes us into His image there is a place for “wait.”  Wait for this is not the best time and the answer you seek will be better fulfilled later. Wait for this is not the right solution and the answer that will best meet your need is developing behind the scenes. Wait, for the answer you really need is one that will bless many others as well if given at just the right time.  Wait, you are not yet asking with correct motives.  Wait, you have a personal sin that you yet need to confess and repent from– that is preventing God’s answer from coming to you.

Since we know that God loves us supremely– as demonstrated through Christ’s sacrifice, then we must realize that God’s call to wait is for the greater good, even when we don’t understand the reasons.  Let us resolve to wait in patience, in God’s peace, and in praise to our Heavenly Father when we find ourselves in God’s ‘waiting room.’
