CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
December 07, 2020

Prayer: Oh Lord, please help us keep Your perspective in all we do. Please help us to have lots of fun celebrating the awesome gift of Your only Son and let us not get bogged down with the unimportant.  Thank You. Amen.

Scripture: Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17

I can remember when I was teaching, how December was hectic. School programs, making gifts for parents, decorating, (and the frustration of having to make sure there weren’t any “Christian” decorations being used) parties, etc. When was I ever going to get ready for Christmas for my family, especially the shopping? I had to realize that this is the most beautiful time of the year and that God has already given us the only perfect gift, His Son, Jesus. Man has made Christmas crazy and that was not what the Lord intended. Plan ahead, keep focused on the true reason for this season and pray for God’s help with all the other stuff.

What are some of your frustrations during this season?

How can each of us carry out the attributes of having true Christmas spirit in our daily environment (classroom, meetings, online, office, etc.)?

This message is very timely. My wife and I are currently in the last stages of caring for her 82 year old mother, Sue. She is no responsive today, but on Friday, December 4, she put an entry in her daily journal as follows: “Dear Lord, help not to lose focuas of Christ my savior during this Christmas season.” That might be her last entry into her Journal. Pray for Sue, that her entry into heaven this Christmas season will be met with angelic singing.
