TASTING
December 1, 2020

Prayer: Oh Lord! You are so generous giving us this wonderful time of year. We are grateful again for our nation and for the peace and joy You give to us. We remember our soldiers, asking You to be with each one. Please lead any of our students who do not know You to hear in a way they can understand this year. Thank You. Amen.

Scripture: Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him. Psalm 34:8 NIV

Taste and see that the Lord is good. The Hebrew word for “taste” in this verse is “ta am” (taw-am’), which means perceive. The Hebrew word for “see” is ra ah (raw-aw’), which means to behold or enjoy. We could all profess that the Lord is good. Some may even say He is very good. Unfortunately, none of us have fully perceived or beheld just how good He is.

I am convinced that God shows us in many spectacular ways how much He loves us, and we often miss these messages. God loves you so much and longs to delight and bless you. He is not selfish, but is giving. He is not waiting for you to mess up so He can “zap” you, but eagerly waits to reward you. Today, you will be tasting many of God’s gifts to us. Have you ever thought of your favorite foods as a gift from God? He gave you taste buds so that we would enjoy our food, and not just eat to live.

Name some things that you see, smell, hear, or touch that spur you to thank Him. Are we so busy? Do we take so many things for granted that we miss His messages of goodness? I confess that I do. My prayer is that God will open my eyes, and every other sense, to His goodness. Stop and look for God’s messages to you over the next weeks and months. I pray that each day you will see God’s goodness in a new way. Prepare to be delighted!

A nice thing thing about tasting what is good is that it makes you want to come back for more

Thanks for this uplifting message during these dark times. God speaks to us in so many different ways. Let us all pray for the ability to stop and listen to His voice in all areas of our life.
