FERVENT
January 21, 2021

Prayer: Lord, please help us reach out for the friendships You have for us – both so that we are encouraged and that we may be used to encourage others with the comfort we have received. Amen.

Scripture: “Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love for your brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart.” 1 Peter 1:22 NKJV

How many times have you felt “alone” even with dozens, maybe even hundreds of people around you? Friendship and fellowship with other Christians is a special gift from God who desires us to lift up and love one another. Unfortunately, the trend of society and human nature is to gossip and keep our distance from others, making sure we don’t get “too close.” The theme of love and encouragement may be found woven throughout  devotional agendas. It is so important for you to build a relationship founded on God’s intentions for us as brothers and sisters in Him. Our prayer is that Christians will become much more than co-workers, but will become part of a support group built on trust and commitment to one another. Jot down a few ideas of what you would like to get from this kind of group and keep them in your Bible, date book or wherever you keep your agendas. Then remember that a support group is what YOU make it. To have a friend you have to be a friend, to get support you have to give it and that means committing yourself to support and pray for your Christian brothers and sisters. There are so many issues educators face now, having the encouragement you need from your Heavenly Father and those who understand your needs is a necessity for success. Look at the people sitting in the room with you. They are your special gift from God and you don’t have to feel alone anymore. How can each of us carry out the attribute of being fervent in our daily environment (online, via email, in the classroom and hallways, in meetings or cafeteria, the office, etc.)?

This prayer spoke to me at a time when I was feeling so very lonesome. Not only at work but at home too. My husband recently went to Heaven (January 5) and I miss him, so very musch. Right now I am angry and trying to process all of these emtions. This prayer lifted me up a little.
