FEARLESS
October 04, 2021

Prayer: Lord, today we pray for anyone we know who is thinking about taking a risk for You. Lead and guide them, and open the way before them. May we all have the courage to dare to do the big and small things You call us to do. Amen

Scripture: Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10 NASB

In a search through the American Standard Version of the Bible, the word “fear” is found 376 times. A majority of the time it was found in the form of a command; either “do not fear,” as in being scared, or to “fear God,” as in reverence. But if we are honest with one another, we probably all have fears. I do not mean a fear of snakes or spiders; I mean a fear involving our lives.

What do you fear? We may have a fear of failure; we are scared to leave our comfort zone to take a risk because we might not succeed, or we might even embarrass ourselves. What if we say or do the wrong thing? What if God leaves us? What if we are not equipped to accomplish the task?

We think that our failure could let other people down, or worse, we might let God down. We may fear the unknown elements of our future. We may fear losing relationships; we may even compromise our values and act in a way that is displeasing to the Lord in order to hold on to relationships that we do not want to lose.

What are some other fears? Why do we fear?

We fear because Satan is a liar – the father of lies as he is called in Scripture – and somehow he has convinced us that his lies are truth. Satan tries to tell us that God has left us, that we do not have what it takes to do what God has called us to do. He tells us that the boy/girlfriend or friend is more important than our relationship with God, and he tries to convince us that our future is totally in our hands, and we are going to make a mess of it.

These are lies! All LIES! The truth is that God will never leave you or forsake you. He equips those that He calls to a task. He wants your obedience, and He will take care of your abilities. No relationship is more important than yours with Him.

What lie has Satan been telling you?

What do your students fear? They fear failure, losing relationships, and their uncertain future. Sound familiar? Sometimes we have more in common with them than we think. God calls us to courage and confidence in Him. Our only failure would be disobeying Him.

My prayer for you is that you would live a fearless life of courage in Christ.
