TUNED

Prayer: Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139: 23-24). Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, tune my heart to sing Thy grace. Amen

Matt Nelson had a reputation for being the finest piano tuner in the area. He even taught a course at the local university. I would observe his work twice a year when he came to my school to tune the pianos. He could hear the “beats” of each pitch even while noisy children walked by in the hallway. His skill kept the pianos so well regulated that they rarely had a note out of tune.
Sometimes we need to call the Master Tuner to come and regulate our lives. He will listen and search us for jarring sounds that displease Him. Oftentimes the music He wants from our lives sounds dissonant and distracting to His purposes. From time to time we need to take inventory of our hearts to see whether a tuning is in order.
