DESPERATELY

Prayer: May I be serious about knowing You today, Lord, and Your will for me. Thank You. Amen
Scripture: But just as you excel in everything – in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this grace of giving. 2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV
Many Christian singers have performed the praise song Breathe, but Michael W. Smith sings my all time favorite version. In the chorus he cries out “I’m desperate for you, I’m lost without you…” God is the air I breathe and His Word is my daily bread. To be desperate is a serious state of mind and body; it is hopelessness without Him, earnestness, which is deeply sincere.
As I pledge to live my life urgently, deliberately, and desperately for God, it is with the deepest sincerity of my heart. Living life for God is a way of life, and it is a serious change of life. As I have continued to grow in my relationship with Jesus Christ, I would sometimes catch myself going through the motions. Prayer and worship sometimes became ritualistic, and I am ashamed to say some days it seemed like a chore. This is not what God desires or deserves. He gave me life, He gave His only Son, He watches over me day and night. He has forgiven me more times than I could ever count. He loves me and He is my hope – my ONLY hope.
As I have learned more about Him and my faith has matured, I have come to fall desperately in love with Him. He is my all, and I desire to serve, worship, praise, and live for Him in an earnest and desperate way. He gives living a whole new meaning and feeling. I pray that you grasp how deep and wide and strong God’s love is for you. In the same way, we now realize that our days with our students are short (even if it doesn’t feel that way today.) There is no promise of tomorrow. We need to have goals and share their goals. We must live life urgently, deliberately, and desperately for Him. How can each of us carry out the attribute of living desperately in our daily environment (classroom, hallways, meetings, cafeteria, office, etc.)?
