PRAY RIGHT AWAY
April 04, 2022
Prayer: Please show us, Lord, when to have courage to pray on the spot. We want to honor You in all our conversations. Amen
Scripture: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11 KJV
When people ask me to pray for something, I don’t like to rely on my memory. I choose to pray right then, on the spot. It can take some people, who didn’t really mean what they asked me, off guard.
“I’ll pray right now,” I say, more often than not, taking their hand and praying aloud, no matter where we are.
“Here?” she may ask. However, I can count on two fingers the number of times people have said, “No, just pray later.”
Please don’t ask me to pray merely as a social phrase, as if you are saying, “Do you think it’s going to rain?” I take prayer very seriously!
I’ve learned that prayers don’t have an expiration date. Long after I have even forgotten I’ve prayed, someone will tell me, “Oh! God answered your prayer for me!” Then comes the explanation as I’m trying to remember what I had prayed. Many times I can’t, but God always remembers.

I do this too! I honestly thought I was the only one. I’m so busy and I want to make sure I don’t forget to do it when someone I know needs prayer. I honestly thought it was probably not as good as “remembering” to pray later. Like it meant I didn’t think it was important enough to remember it later, but this devotional made me feel better. I love the thought that even if I don’t remember it at the exact right time, God does. Thank you!
