KNOWING GOD
May 3, 2022

Prayer: Please let us know You better today, O Lord. Amen

Scripture: Let us press on to know Him! Then he will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring. Hosea 6:3 NLT

Knowing God – what an awesome thought. Can the creature know the creator? Can the pot know the potter? Well, yes and no. Since the creator and the potter put something of themselves into each piece of their creation, then to that extent the creature can know the creator if he is willing to understand. In Revelation chapters two and three, we read “whosoever is willing should understand what the Spirit is saying to the churches… ” God would not put upon us impossibility; therefore, according to the perfect justice of God who wills us to know Him, it IS possible.

Hosea encourages us to press on in our seeking to know God. If we accept that Jesus was God in the beginning, was God incarnate as a human, and IS God now – Lord over all creation – then we are knowing God. To the extent that we permit God’s Holy Spirit to enter us and guide us, we know God.

Hosea tells us that knowing God, for us, is as sure as those seasonal rains and as certain as the rising and setting of the sun. The sun’s relationship to the earth is regular and predictable, and this gives us peace and confidence when we apply it to the promise about knowing God. But the patterns of rain are sometimes more irregular than the clock of the earth’s rotation before and around the sun. There is not complete predictability in knowing God, which is why our faith has to be engaged. We must trust in God and in His plan for us even when we do not fully understand it, and we can know Him by pressing on to do it.

I pray your day is one in which your pressing on to know God brings much fruit into your life. Be a blessing to someone as often as you can.
